Ace Aquatec celebrates second Queen’s Award victory
We are delighted and proud to announce that we have won the Queen’s Award for Enterprise Innovation for the second year in a row. We have been recognized for the positive impact our Humane Stunner Universal (HSU) is having on animal welfare across the global sea food industry. The HSU uses electricity to immediately render fish unconscious without removing them from the water – this reduces fish stress, improves fish quality, and can double the volume of fish farms can process per hour.
The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise is an awards programme that recognizes British businesses and other organisations who excel at international trade, innovation or sustainable development. They are the highest official UK awards for British businesses and are made by The Queen based on the advice of the Prime Minister.
We are one of 201 winners across the UK in 2019 and have the rare achievement of being selected two years in a row for different innovations. Last year our Queen’s Award victory was based on the contribution their acoustic predator deterrents made to the Scottish economy, successfully reducing conflict between fish farmers and seals.
Managing Director Nathan Pyne-Carter said: “Being recognized last year for the positive difference our predator deterrents are having on the Scottish economy was amazing, and to be acknowledged again this year for the wider global impact our electric stunning technology has on animal welfare is a huge honour. International growth over the last couple of years has felt like a bit of a whirlwind but it’s the result of years of experimentation, refinement and a firm belief it’s possible to improve fish welfare without sacrificing on quality or efficiency.”
Leader of Dundee City Council, Councillor John Alexander commented: “I think it is fantastic that this local company has won this prestigious award for the second year running. Ace Aquatec have built a thriving business from their home of Dundee, where they operate as a global supplier of aquaculture solutions.”
