    The Ace Aquatec product range currently includes 3D biomass cameras, humane electric stunning systems, acoustic and electric predator deterrents, and sea lice removal systems. These are all designed to improve both operational efficiency and standards of animal welfare.

     

    Role overview:

    This role offers you the opportunity to make a significant practical contribution to animal welfare, and the chance to be responsible for the design of new products which support environmentally responsible fishing and fish farming. You will contribute to our success by leading on installations of our products, liaising with our R&D department with regards to specifications of new installations and ensuring that all UK and international installations conform to the latest regulations and safety requirements.

    You will also keep up to date with the scientific and technical literature and with trends in the aquaculture and fishing industry ensuring that our products develop, continue to be firmly based on a sound understanding of fish biology and welfare and to offer the highest standards of safety, reliability and operator satisfaction.

    You will also provide technical support to our sales team in the interpretation of customers’ requirements, support junior members of the technical team with their skill development and work with external specialists guiding the development of new products.

     

    Key responsibilities will include:

    • Determining specifications and selecting or adapting product designs to meet the customer requirements
    • Managing, checking and signing off system installations
    • Maintaining user documentation and technical files
    • Technical Support
    • Ongoing product development

     

    Desired attributes: You will:

    • be a chartered engineer or working towards chartered status
    • have proven experience in mechanical and electrical engineering
    • have experience in the aquaculture, agriculture, marine or offshore industries
    • understand the principles of power electronics
    • have experience in working with and creating technical files
    • be able to review scientific literature to support and improve product designs
    • have a history of working successfully as part of a technical team to translate ideas into products
    • have a solid understanding of electrical safety in industrial and marine environments
    • have experience in training and developing team members

    You will be based in our bright modern office/workshop at Dundee’s City Quay. This is an office-based role but occasional international travel and a full driving license will be required. We are open to flexible working arrangements.
