Meet Alan MacLeod, Ace Aquatec’s Chief Financial Officer

As the demand for humanely raised and harvested fish grows worldwide, Ace Aquatec is uniquely placed. The company’s commitment to ethical aquaculture has underpinned every one of its technological developments.

From the award-winning A-HSU®, the first in-water electric stunning system, to the (also award-winning) AI driven A-BIOMASS® camera, that collects accurate data about average weight, distribution and growth, Ace Aquatec innovates to make the sector more sustainable. Its technologies have set new standards and are helping to shape the future of the industry, with a focus on sustainability goals and improved fish welfare.

Joining Ace Aquatec at such a pivotal time is Alan McLeod.

“It’s incredibly exciting and I’m eager to contribute to this cutting-edge company’s continued success. Growing up in a fishing family in Lossiemouth on Scotland’s north-east coast, I have inherited an affinity for the sea combined with a passion for greater efficiency in food production, a vision that aligns with Ace Aquatec’s.

With a background in financial leadership across multiple industries and in many countries and regions, including the Middle East, Australia and Singapore, Macleod brings a wealth of experience to further the company’s global ambitions.

“The company already has tentacles around the world, with a presence that extends from Europe to Asia and from Chile to North America, and customers on just about every continent. Whether navigating new markets or strengthening established footholds, I plan to build on the company’s momentum, harness the expertise of local teams, and exploit the immense potential to expand”.

Having worked across technology, construction, energy and oil and gas settings, overseeing growth in international markets, MacLeod is focused on building Ace Aquatec’s financial resilience while it extends its reach.

“Already this year, a strategic partnership with the leading fish processing manufacturer JBT Marel has opened new doors for us, enabling comprehensive solutions for the aquaculture sector while contributing to better welfare practices and lower environmental impacts. Such collaborations as these will not only introduce more of Ace Aquatec’s pioneering products to the market but will also contribute to the long-term transformation of the seafood industry, delivering cost-effective, low-carbon, welfare-first systems to our customers”.

“At Ace Aquatec, investment in R&D is key to progress and that entails constantly expanding our workforce at home as well as recruiting abroad, but however big our plans, Dundee will remain our base. I am proud to be part of this mission, supporting our global growth strategy and embracing the company’s innovation culture, still grounded in the place where it all began”.
