2025 Year in review

Looking back at 2025, we’re reflecting on what has been one of the most productive and exciting years in Ace Aquatec’s history. Across our technology platforms, from welfare-focused stunning solutions to advanced imaging and AI, we’ve made huge strides that reinforce our mission: helping the seafood industry produce food more ethically, efficiently, and sustainably than ever before.

Technology Breakthroughs & Product Successes

Our pioneering A-ELECTROLICER® sea lice removal system continued its momentum this year. Developed in partnership with East Coast Innovation and funded through the European Innovation Council (EIC), the system is now preparing for its next major milestone. In Q1, we move into the next testing phase in Canada, bringing us closer to a non-chemical, welfare-friendly solution to one of aquaculture’s greatest challenges.

The A-BIOMASS® also had a standout year. Its accuracy and reliability impressed customers in every region, and we expanded support to several new species—seabass, yellowtail, Arctic char, and trout. Across all species, we maintained an exceptional deviation of only 1% from actual biomass, cementing the camera’s status as a best-in-class biomass measurement system.

On the welfare and health monitoring front, we upgraded our platform with a new 8-megapixel camera for the mk4 unit. This enhancement significantly advanced our wound and sea lice detection capabilities, giving farmers clearer, more dependable data to guide proactive health decisions.

These upgrades helped deliver remarkable performance globally, including 99% accuracy demonstrated at Petuna in Australia—now captured in a published case study.

Advancing Humane Stunning Worldwide

Our stunning solutions also reached major milestones. Early in the year, we formalised a strategic partnership with JBT Marel, marking an important alignment between two leaders committed to the future of ethical harvesting.

We also launched a groundbreaking shrimp stunning system in collaboration with the Shrimp Welfare Project. These trailer-based systems provide farmers with a humane alternative to traditional dry electric stunners, eliminating burning and dramatically improving welfare outcomes across the shrimp sector.

In Norway, we achieved two firsts: our first biomass camera rollout at a client in the Hardangerfjord region in Norway. In addition, our smolt culling systems was successfully deployed at a major salmon producer, supporting responsible husbandry and reducing unnecessary waste.

Our commitment to fish welfare also earned industry recognition, including the Tiny Fish Award, which highlighted the innovation and impact of our culling systems.

Beyond these milestones, we continue to develop a new AI-powered quality check camera with AquaScot and partner with Hendrix Genetics to track and analyse biological characteristics, further strengthening the industry’s ability to make informed, data-driven decisions.

A Growing Global Team

Behind every innovation is our people. This year, Ace Aquatec grew by 35%, adding new talent across engineering, operations, commercial roles, and AI development. We also expanded our footprint in key territories, including Chile and the Nordics, where we now have a more established and responsive local presence.

We were also proud to welcome Stolt Ventures and Scottish Enterprise as new investors during our Series B raise—an important milestone that will accelerate our growth and product development pipeline. And with new office space in Glasgow now open, our team has the environment it needs to collaborate and innovate at pace.

Looking Ahead

2025 has been a year defined by progress, partnerships, and proof of impact. Thank you to all our customers, partners, and supporters who continue to trust Ace Aquatec as a leader in sustainable aquaculture technology. We look forward to continuing this journey together in 2026—with even more groundbreaking developments to come.
